Enrichment

Students bring a packed lunch to school on their enrichment/extended day, and participate in the special program available for that school day.

Topics for enrichment in the past have included block building, cooking, science/nature, cooperative games, and drama/theater.

This is a very popular program with bi-annual sign-up in September and January for participation by semester.

The Extended Day Enrichment Program continues your child’s day from 12pm to 2 pm each day.  The enrollment options and tuition are listed below with our fall semester beginning on Monday, September 18th and ending on Friday, January 12th.

Each child attending brings their own lunch and then has additional enrichment programming.  Enrollment is for 2/3/4 or 5 days a week.

Please return the attached enrollment form with your choice of days and payment by Friday, September 8th.  Classes begin Monday, September 18th.

Every child loves dramatic play! Come join us as we discover storytelling, acting, creating characters and setting the stage for creative theater. The children will use classic tales and work together to bring stories to life.

Come be a botanist, entomologist or a zoologist! Children will plant in a garden, hunt for bugs and learn about land and ocean animals. Join us to stop and look at nature and discover the world around us! Many of these activities will be held in our wonderful outdoor classroom/nature center and across our 5 acre campus.

Have fun while learning about spatial relations, problem solving, and cooperative play. Come explore the different unit blocks and their qualities. Children will experiment with concepts of balance and weight in their constructions and use the unit blocks to explore patterning and design concepts. Special project days will incorporate Lego, bamboo builders, Lincoln logs, tree cookies and other exciting building materials.

Through the art process, children will experience color, texture, and an array of tactile sensory and fine motor skills. We will work with paint, clay, collage materials and more. The children will create using these materials to express what they know and feel about the world around them. Special materials and techniques will be introduced (i.e. painting to music, environmental art, and printmaking). You will discover that every child is an artist!

This interactive cooking class gives the children a chance to discover the joy of cooking. We will learn to measure ingredients, follow a recipe and cook up some delicious dishes. Recipes include seasonal favorites, multi-cultural dishes, healthy snacks and more. This is always a favorite at The Preschool!
